Rheinsteig trail in the Rheingau

In the Rheingau, the premium trail starts at Biebrich Castle in Wiesbaden along the Rhine. This is followed by gentle climbs that lead across vineyards, wide meadows and forests to spring-fresh streams. Along the wooded Taunus slopes, the view opens up to the sun-drenched vineyards or the legendary Rhine. At Rüdesheim, the river breaks through the rocks and the valley becomes impressively steep. Castle after castle towers to the right and left, whose names, e.g. Binger Mäuseturm, hint at their eventful history.
