Who knows the Rheingau best? The ‘locals’. Become one of them: ‘Bike like a local’ invites you on an interactive journey of discovery. The 55-kilometre route connects Rüdesheim with Eltville and includes all the villages along the banks of the Rhine, as well as the hillside communities of Kiedrich, Hallgarten and Johannisberg and Windeck. The route can be started at any point, and the route can also be shortened as required along the way.

A total of 16 stations provide orientation and encourage you to stop at regular intervals along the way. There you can play audio and video clips on your smartphone. In the clips, narrators introduce the Rheingau and its sights in 2-3 entertaining minutes. Sometimes as a narrator presenting a town or a topic, other times as an imaginary person or historical personality. Sometimes local animals slip into the role of the narrator. This exciting mixture guarantees that there is never a dull moment along the way.

The project was financed with funds from the tourism contribution and the tour can be started exclusively and free of charge at any time. The motto is: cycle off and have fun!

Unser Tipp

Note: At weekends, the towpath (stretch of the Rhine between Rüdesheim and Eltville) is very busy in the afternoons. We therefore recommend starting here in the morning.
