The RHEINGAUER KLOSTERSTEIG leads from Kloster Eberbach through four rest points and the monasteries Johannisberg (now castle), Marienthal, Nothgottes, and St. Hildegard in Eibingen to the Marienkirche in Rüdesheim-Aulhausen. The hike can be wonderfully interrupted in Johannisberg. Here you will find accommodation options or can reach Geisenheim station by bus/taxi.

You will walk from monastery to monastery; rest points along the way invite you to pause. Suggestions for this can be found in a pilgrim booklet and at the rest points themselves. The stamps you receive at the monastery stations will identify you as a “true pilgrim.”

Note: You can access the Marienkirche via the phone number +49 (0)6723 60272-32. The key is in a key box located on the rear exterior wall of the church. Please put the key back in the key box after your visit. Thank you!

Buses run from Eltville station via Kiedrich to the starting point in Eberbach. (Line 172)

From the end point at Marienkirche, a path (3.1 km) leads to Assmannshausen station.

How to get back to Eberbach from Marienhausen Monastery (end point), Aulhausen:

From Aulhausen, a footpath is signposted to Assmannshausen railroad station (3.1 km, 45 min). RTV operates a call bus service Aulhausen - Assmannshausen (www.r-t-v.de; 06124 7265913). The on-call bus must be booked at least an hour in advance. The Rheingau line (www.vias-online.de) runs from Assmannshausen station to Eltville every hour. From there, there is an hourly bus to Kloster Eberbach. We recommend parking your car in Eltville and taking the bus to Eberbach. This makes it easier to return to the car.

Parking options in Eberbach: Parking lot at the monastery (fee required) and Eichberg grounds

Parking options in Aulhausen: Around St. Vincenzstift
