Leisurely stroll along the Rüdesheim monastery trail St. Hildegard
11/04/2025
The Abbey of St. Hildegard and the monastery ensemble have towered majestically above Rüdesheim since 1904, rising prominently from the vineyards. The nuns live according to the rules of St. Benedict “ora et labora” and continue the tradition of St. Hildegard.
The newly designed parking lot leads the circular path past the church and the monastery café into the vineyards. Passing “Hildegardisruh,” the route goes until the road from Rüdesheim to the Niederwalddenkmal. Here, the path diverges to the right and climbs up to the Ebental plateau. Near the Peterhof, the path joins the Rheingau Monastery Trail. Here is where the highest point of the round is reached. The return path to the Abbey of St. Hildegard follows the monastery trail. To conclude, hikers can listen for a moment to the evening prayer of the Benedictine nuns in the monastery church.
Those who want to hike need to have the desire for a 4.5-kilometer route and 95 meters of elevation gain. Participation costs 7 euros per person. Children (up to 16 years) are free. Registration is not required. The tour takes place in any weather. Info: 06722 / 750508 and www.blum-wolfgang.de.
