Restaurant & Wine Terrace at Hotel Schön
Beneath the wisteria, with the ships passing by your table.
Our restaurant and Rhine terrace belong to the Hotel Schön am Rhein and sit right on the riverside promenade of Assmannshausen, in the heart of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site. A wisteria some 200 years old climbs over the terrace. Awnings keep off rain and sun, and on cooler days you sit indoors overlooking the river.
From 2 pm we serve coffee and cake from our own pastry chef, Hans Kellner, along with tapas and wines from the Karl Schön estate, poured by the 0.25-litre carafe. From 6 to 9 pm the evening menu offers hearty classics cooked by a local Assmannshausen chef. High chairs and a children's menu are available, and everything is also available to take away. Wine tastings can be enjoyed in the restaurant or, by appointment, in person with Mr Schön in the wine tavern next door.
For family celebrations and meetings we offer a private room or, on request, the whole house. Since summer 2026 your hosts have been Wiebke Sonnabend and Robin Bremer, in a house of 23 rooms, parts of which date back to 1752.

Restaurant & Wine Terrace: Tuesday to Sunday 2 to 9 pm, evening menu 6 to 9 pm. Closed on Mondays, open on public holidays. Breakfast for hotel guests daily 8 to 10 am.
Closed 1 to 25 November. From 26 November to 23 December open Thursday to Sunday, 2 to 9 pm. Closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. From 27 December to 2 January open Tuesday to Sunday, 2 to 9 pm. Then closed for the winter until one week before Easter.

The Assmannshausen train station is just about a 5-minute walk away.
You can reach us in about 40 minutes by car from Frankfurt Airport or the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds.
You will find us at Rheinuferstraße 4 in Rüdesheim-Assmannshausen, right on the Rhine promenade. Assmannshausen station is about a five-minute walk away. Parking is free: around ten spaces right by the house, and on busy days more in the car park about 150 m upstream. Bicycles can be parked under cover.
