Kräuterwirte Assmannshausen - Wildes in der Rotweinzone

Rüdesheim-Assmannshausen

Where red wine grows in the herb garden... Experience regional fresh cuisine and breathtaking views with us.

Assmannshausen on the Rhine is widely known as a red wine community, with Pinot Noir having been grown here since 1507 and undoubtedly regarded as one of the best red wines in Germany. However, the vineyards around Assmannshausen are no longer just a red wine zone, but also a herb garden. Surrounded by vine leaves, more than thirty edible wild plants and medicinal herbs grow here, such as wild fennel, ground ivy, and garlic mustard.

Since 2015, we have been living herbs, enjoyment, and regionality. We herb hosts have made it our goal to make this regional diversity culinary experiences for you. Green wild garlic noodles are complemented by homemade jams and pestos, green sauce, wild garlic risotto, and woodruff crème are just samples from the herb menus.

Our three partner restaurants demonstrate with seasonal herb actions that regional cuisine goes beyond red wine and game dishes from local forests.

Culinary wild herb hikes through the vineyards are offered several times a year, and a wild herb path leads as an eight-kilometer circular route over the red wine areas of Höllenberg and Frankenthal. Along the way, which is marked with a flower symbol, detailed descriptions provide information about the wild herbs growing there.

We look forward to your visit!
