Our Wine Depots

In the midst of the vineyards around Assmannshausen and Rüdesheim, we have set up small wine depots at a total of four locations. Here you can enjoy our chilled wines with a beautiful view. Clean glasses are, of course, available on site. You only need an ID or a driver's license to verify your age at the ID scanner located on site. Once approved, you can open a flap and find a selection of our wines. Naturally, there is also water and apple juice spritzer. Payment is based on trust via PayPal or subsequent transfer. If you are planning a visit with a larger group, please let us know in advance. Then we can ensure that there are enough drinks at the wine depot.

Wine Depot Red Wine Pavilion

The wine depot is located in the famous red wine area of Assmanshäuser Höllenberg. Here, Pinot Noir of international top quality is grown. Therefore, red wine has been cultivated here on 46 hectares since the 13th century. Located in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Middle Rhine Valley, the famous Höllenberg's name has nothing to do with hell, even if red wine grows here. Rather, it is derived from the old German word "Halde" for hill. Those who have land here have a good foundation for great wine, and good parcels on Höllenberg are highly sought after among winemakers, although the cultivation is very labor-intensive. Due to the partly extreme gradient, everything here is done by hand. It is too steep for machines.

The red wine pavilion itself was once constructed as a film set elsewhere and was in danger of falling into disrepair. Committed citizens of Assmannhausen took it upon themselves to restore it and give it a second life at this beautiful spot.

Wine Depot Laadhütt

The Laadhütt wine depot is located in the vineyard area of Berg Kaisersteinfels. This area, which was mostly abandoned and forgotten, is now highly appreciated again. The wines are characterized by their minerality with a pleasant fruitiness and a very robust acidity. In the past, the surrounding vineyards were almost exclusively in the hands of Aulhausen winemakers. They brought their grapes over small paths to Laadhütt, where they were transferred to horse-drawn carts and transported to Aulhausen.

Wine Depot Ehrenfelsblick

This wine depot is located at the upper end of our vineyard Assmanshäuser Frankenthal. The wines from the Frankental site can be compared to the Pinot Noir wines of the famous Höllenberg. The small area right next to the wine depot marks the boundary between the Assmannshausen wine regions and the Rüdesheim wine regions. The nearest vineyard, located upriver, thus belongs to the Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg. From the wine depot, you have a beautiful view of the Ehrenfels Castle ruins. This was built around the year 1211 and served for a long time, together with the Binger Mouse Tower, as a customs station for shipping.

Walter's Wine Pavilion

The insider tip among our wine depots! You will find this wine depot at the foot of our vineyard in Assmannshäuser Frankenthal. A pergola made from grapevines also provides a shady spot on hot summer days. It is a bit quieter here than on the main hiking paths, and the beautiful view invites you to linger. You will find this wine depot if you descend the stairs opposite the "Ehrenfelsblick" wine depot or follow the field path along the Ehrenfels Castle downstream to the end.
