Who knows the Rheingau best? The “locals.” Become one of them: “Bike like a local” invites you on an interactive discovery journey. The 55-kilometer-long route connects Rüdesheim with Eltville and includes all towns along the Rhine waterfront, as well as the hillside communities of Kiedrich, Hallgarten, and Johannisberg and the Windeck. You can join the route at any point you like and also shorten the round trip as needed along the way.

A total of 16 stations provide orientation, encouraging you to stop at regular intervals. There you can play audio and video clips on your smartphone. In the clips, narrators introduce the Rheingau and its sights in 2-3 entertaining minutes. Sometimes they present a city or a topic as narrators, other times as imaginary characters or historical personalities. Occasionally, local animals take on the role of the narrator. This exciting mix guarantees that it won’t be boring along the way.

The project was financed by tourism contributions, and the route can be started exclusively and free of charge at any time. The motto is: Start cycling and have fun!

Note: On weekends, the towpath (Rhine route between Rüdesheim and Eltville) is heavily frequented in the afternoons. Therefore, we recommend starting here in the mornings.
